Star Flower

It is modest to call them beautiful. It scratches the surface. A humble attempt to describe a collection of petals so complex and evolved. Like stars, flowers are memories of light and magnetism that hold our attention and catch our eye.

As with anything where words are superfluous, I come with curiosity and care and silently attend. At night, when it’s clear, I look up to take in the inconceivable sparkle. Time traveling. Each one reflects a moment, millions if not not trillions of years ago. Neck arching. I circumnavigate in place, spinning from north to east then around to the western skies. A familiar constellation, a meteor, a satellite caught in orbit.

An embodiment of the sensual, flowers are indeed beautiful. As I sit here in the garden, watching the final shadows of the evening sun slip away, I contemplate, why? Why am I so magnetized and transfixed? I have no words to describe the invisible force which holds me.

Yet it’s something within their shared nature – the star and flower. Each are a snapshot with the awareness of eons past. A nascent force which keeps me graced in presence. They know of magic’s source.

The sunlight, the insects, the birds, the wind, even me, are all here watching, mesmerized. I’m heavy in my seat surrounded by a sea of blooms.

Yours, Erin

I stumbled upon this very pretty flower film from Aesme Studio (London UK) creating a floral still life tableau. I found it quite fitting. It’s full of mood and texture and dream.

Enjoy.
